Ural Fun
October 18th, 2008 · No Comments
I am considering buying a Harley but I came across this beauty the other day. If I could find a way to ship it home I would buy it. I don’t know the year but I don’t believe it to be as old as people assume. After looking at the Ural website it looks like they are still in production and seem to be a number of dealers in the US. Nothing says lets party like a side car.

Chicago - Not so windy
October 10th, 2008 · No Comments
Stopped for a few days in Chicago on my way back to work. Great place! Stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel. Nice view of N. Michigan Ave in the heart of downtown. Below are a few of the pictures from the visit. Notice the giant pancakes from the Bongo Room. By far the most insanely delicious pancakes since Shopsin’s. If you are in the mid-west you would be wise to arrange your life schedule in order to try these beauties. Get there early…there’s a wait.

Ashes and Snow

Ashes and Snow
While we are on the subject of spiritually moving photography it’s necessary for me to mention this nomadic art exhibit I attended in NYC-2005. Absolutely amazing. It was literally nomadic, they built the building containing the exhibit out of shipping containers on pier 54. You can read more about that on their web site, it’s worth checking out. Anyway, this photographer/artist Gregory Colbert compiled a stunning collection of photos he had taken primarily of elephants and the people who live in close connection with them. The experience is not only photographs but the environment created within the Nomadic Museum as well. There is a mixture of sights and sounds including a film narrated by Laurence Fishburne. They just finished up with the showing in Mexico City in April 08. It was attended by over 8,732,622 million people within 100 days. The web site doesn’t indicate if or when the next destination is but if you get a chance it is well worth the journey.

“In exploring the shared language and poetic sensibilities of all animals, I am working towards rediscovering the common ground that once existed when people lived in harmony with animals. The images depict a world that is without beginning or end, here or there, past or present.”
—Gregory Colbert, Creator of Ashes and Snow
